Nitid: bright; lustrous; shining
As the 19th year of my life begins, I have been reflecting on my 18th year and everything I've experienced. 18 was full of trials and tribulations. However, those trials and tribulations are what helped me grow into the woman I am today. 18 was a year of growth and growth is never comfortable. I spent this past year fighting to rise above the dirt, and now that I finally have, I can share with you how I achieved it. While in the dirt, there was me, God, and my roots. My roots are what grounded me. My roots are multifaceted. My roots are my faith, my writing, and my interests. For my 19th year, I would like to share those roots with you.
Typically, a girl's 19th birthday is described as her nasty nineteen. I wanted a different adjective to describe my 19th year so I decided to search for one. The adjective I discovered was "nitid". "Nitid" is defined as bright, lustrous, or shining. Since I finally rose above the dirt I can finally see the sun and my God-given talents and gifts can finally shine for the world to see. I have been asked constantly to create a YouTube channel; but, I quickly realized that's not God's will for me. I was made to be a writer through and through. So, I have created this blog where I can share my roots with you. This blog is entitled Malea' Jo with my middle name first and my first name being second. I created the name to be inside out because that is how I'm sharing myself with you all, from the inside out. My blog will include personal writings, academic writings, inspirational posts, fashion/ makeup tips, tv/ film analyses, and my journey to health and fitness. My first post will be the intro and purpose to my independent study on The Hypersexuality and Misogynoir that Black Women Experience.
Thank you for your patience and support and here's to a Nitid Nineteen.
